Gameplay Engineer

 

 

Would you like to become part of the team that includes the creative visionaries behind Drizzt Do'Urden and Spawn? 38 Studios is currently seeking a passionate, results-oriented gameplay programmer to join the Copernicus team. This is a full-time time position with competitive salary, full benefits and 401k, and the chance to be part of MMOG history!

Responsibilities

  • Work with engineering leads to create high quality software that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Participate in code reviews.

  • Work with the other departments to define and reach common goals, focusing on engineering efforts within cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Iterate with designers and animators on systems like player control and camera, combat, user interface, etc.

  • Facilitate communications between engineering and other departments.

  • Meet project deadlines and milestones as set by the studio.


Knowledge, skills & ability requirements

  • Knowledge: Solid knowledge of C++ required. Experience with Python a plus. At least a working knowledge of a few disciplines (e.g. AI, animation, rendering, UI, networking, etc). Knowledge of MMOs and their architecture is a plus.

  • Competencies: Good oral and written communication skills; solid organization and efficient time management skills are required. Understands how to work on large teams in a deadline-driven environment. Able to effectively share opinions about what makes games fun.

  • Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science is preferred.

  • Experience: 1 year game industry experience with at least 1 shipped title is preferred (or equivalent experience on personal projects or several years experience in a related field).
